Frequently Asked Questions about Senior Home Care
Get answers to your senior home care questions from the experts at Comfort Keepers!
What is home care? How is it different from home health care?
Home care is non-medical care provided in the home of the care recipient. Home health care, on the other hand, involves medical services such as physical therapy.
What types of care are offered by Comfort Keepers?
Comfort Keepers offers a wide range of senior home care services, including in home care, respite care, dementia and Alzheimer’s care, end of life care, and transitioning care. We also provide interactive caregiving, a unique caregiving approach designed to additionally engage clients in their own care.
What are some services offered by Comfort Keepers?
Some of the most common services offered by Comfort Keepers includes assistance with personal care, light housekeeping, and meal preparation, as well as incidental transportation and companionship. All our senior home care services can be further modified to meet the specific needs of each client.
How are Comfort Keepers selected?
Each potential caregiver first has to go through an extensive screening process, which includes detailed background and reference checks. After the screening process, Comfort Keepers interviews prospective care providers, asking those individuals with adequate knowledge and skills to join our team. Before they proceed to provide senior home care services, each new employee has to complete a training program in order to deliver the best possible care to our clients. Each Comfort Keeper is also required to have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
How much does home care cost?
The exact cost of care depends on a number of factors, including the type and level of care needed. For more information on our rates, please contact our office. Our care representatives can also inform you of the various financing options available.
Are care services available 24/7?
Comfort Keepers is happy to offer its nationally recognized care services 24/7/365.
Does Comfort Keepers offer services to seniors living in nursing homes or assisted living communities?
Comfort Keepers offers senior home care services to older adults in nursing homes or similar senior facilities. Our services can significantly improve the lives of seniors in assisted living communities, as we offer highly personalized care plans, tailored to meet the unique needs of each senior.
Do you develop personalized care plans? Can they be modified?
Comfort Keepers builds custom care plans for each client, taking into consideration their health, personal preferences, living condition, and various other factors. These plans can be modified whenever needed. Comfort Keepers also reviews care plan once in every six months to make sure that each client is receiving appropriate care.
Can I choose my caregiver?
Comfort Keepers matches clients with compatible caregivers based on personality traits and mutual interests. If the client is not happy with our choice, we can find a more appropriate care provider.
What if my caregiver is sick or on vacation?
Comfort Keepers works with many loving caregivers. When one of our caregivers is absent from work, our care coordinator will arrange another, equally skilled care provider to provide senior home care services.
What are ADLs and IADLs?
Activities of daily living involve basic everyday activities such as bathing and toileting. Instrumental activities of daily living include grocery shopping, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation, and many more.
