Alzheimer's Association TrialMatch®
The Alzheimer’s Association has established TrialMatch® – a matching service that connects people with Alzheimer’s, their caregivers, physicians and healthy volunteers with clinical studies. There are over 700 trials sites in the United States in need of volunteers to participate in promising clinical studies related to research on Alzheimer’s.
To get involved in this opportunity to help find a cure all you need to do is the following:
1. Create an account with the Alzheimer’s Association here.
2. Complete a short questionnaire to create a profile.
3. The Alzheimer’s Association will compare your profile to existing and upcoming studies in their database.
4. You will receive information about which studies you may qualify to participate in. This will be based on your preferences, location and personal characteristics.
Some of the Benefits of Participating in Clinical Trials:
Early access to potential treatments, receive expert medical care at leading healthcare facilities (often at little to no charge) and you are not just helping yourself but future generations which may include your grandchildren!
There are a couple of risks the Alzheimer’s Association wants all prospective participants to be aware of:
That being said, no treatments get to this part of clinical trials without reason for optimism, there has to be strong and compelling evidence that the treatments being studied will be as effective, or even more effective than existing treatments and therapies available.
